What developers usually complain about

You filled the keyword field with random words and hope something sticks.

You're repeating words already in your app name, wasting valuable characters.

Competitor apps rank higher for the same keywords and you don't know why.

You don't know which keywords actually have search volume versus which are dead.

How to fix it before launch

  1. 1Enter your app name, category, and 3-5 core features.
  2. 2Review the generated keyword list with search volume estimates.
  3. 3Remove duplicates and words already in your app name.
  4. 4Prioritize by relevance first, then by search volume, then by competition.
  5. 5Fill your 100-character keyword field with the top picks, separated by commas.

FAQ

How does the App Store keyword field work?

Apple gives you 100 characters for keywords, separated by commas. You don't need spaces. Apple's algorithm combines your keywords with each other and with your app name to create search combinations. Words already in your app name or subtitle don't need to be repeated.

Should I use singular or plural keywords?

Apple automatically matches singular and plural. 'game' matches 'games' and vice versa. Use the shorter form to save characters. Same logic applies to common misspellings — Apple handles those automatically.

How many keywords should I target?

Aim to fill all 100 characters with 15-25 distinct keywords. Each keyword should be 4-8 characters on average. Don't stuff — each word should be genuinely relevant to your app.
